Welcome!

You have entered the online home of Central Indiana Academy, a public charter school of choice in Central Indiana.  Based in Boone County, the Academy plans to start operations in the 2013-14 academic year, serving students in grades K-12.  Students may attend Central Indiana Academy for free.  The school charges no tuition, yet will provide a high-quality, personalized approach, with small class sizes and significant parent involvement.

The Academy is being developed by Parent Advocates for Gifted Education, Inc. (PAGE), a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing exceptional educational opportunities for gifted, talented, and highly motivated students in the Central Indiana region.  PAGE will submit proposals to Ball State University's Office of Charter Schools and the Indiana Charter School Board in 2012.  You can find the previous proposal submitted to BSU in 2011here.

Why Support a Public Charter School?

There are many excellent reasons to support a public charter school that meets the needs of highly motivated and high ability learners.  PAGE has developed a brief slideshow that explains the rationale for a public charter school in Central Indiana that meets this need.  The slideshow also addresses some of the myths and misconceptions about charter schools.  You can review the slideshow here.  A brief one-page rationale for Central Indiana Academy is available here.

In addition to the reasons indicated on the slideshow and one-page synopsis, residents of Lebanon and surrounding communities may want to read the entire High Ability study conducted by Ball State University in 2008.  This study affirms the need for an educational alternative for high-ability and high-achieving, motivated student body.
